Osteopathy and Autism
Osteopathic care is not limited to certain population groups, after all everyone in all likelihood will suffer from some ailment at a certain point in their lives. So it makes sense that those on the spectrum will also at times suffer aches and pains. As they can be quite routine with certain movements or behavioural actions it can lead to increased wear or tear in specific structures. Often due to these consistent triggers pain and tension within the body can be created, which in turn can lead to more behavioural triggers and/or movement pattern alterations without those around them knowing, as they may be struggling to convey this message!

Josh has extensive history with those with Autism, not only has he been helping them with osteopathic care in a clinical setting for years but whilst he was at Uni he was a part of the Son Rise Program. As such he prides himself on being able to make these individuals feel at ease and comfortable, and understands that potential treatments need to be adaptable. Osteopathic techniques vary in a variety of ways and as such treatments aren't confined to a rigid environment and therefore a warm cosy environment is key, hopefully making it a pleasant, easy experience for the patient, their family and the practitioner.

Often a few tips of advice to aid in the care of these individuals to be done at home can go to great lengths in ensuring that routine rapid movements or habits are met with some form of management to help alleviate potential problems. Obviously osteopathic medicine can't remedy the autism diagnosis itself but like all humans those with the condition can still get sore
